Reinsulation coating

The process of our reinsulation proceeds in following steps:

  • Mechanical removal of the old coating. Takes about 3-4 days (depending on tank size)
  • Shotblasting of tank walls before new coating. Takes about 1 day (depending on tank size)
  • Applying of special epoxy coat. Application by a special hot spraying method to a thickness of approx. 1.500 mycrons. Duration  ~1 day, in relation to size of tank. (This proved coating method we practise already for more than 15 years.

The E-coat tank can be refilled 5 - 7 days after the application of final epoxy layer.

Thus the total process until restarting of line takes about 10 days. This depends of course on the size of the tank.

During the mechanical removal of old coating there inevitably will occur some significant formation of dust. Therefore the entire E-coat tank will be hermetically sealed by masking and the inner aeration is ensured by an additional ventilation. The operator team wears special protective clothing, with an independent fresh air supply.

There are surely further insulation methods could be considered.  However always taken in mind the specific requirement and quality aspects. I.e. inner lamination of tank by PP-sheets. In generally critical are the welding seems and the thermical variation of tank walls (outer wall of steel, inner wall of PP-sheets. How the installations and wiring is protected, what about any breaking, cracking of PP-sheets by down crashing of heavy parts or total jigs?
