A good UF unit has to fulfill basicly 3 main tasks:

Generation of rinse medium by a closed rinsing circuit.
The rinse medium takes the excess of paint, which still sticks at the end of deposition on surface of parts to be coated, back to the process. This excess of material is returned to the E-coat tank. By a closed circuit operation no waste water is produced. Consequently the E-coat is used environment-friendly and on high efficiency, ensures a clean tank fill and obtaines a high quality of coating.

Control of conductivity
Removal of water soluble impurities which may be carried over from the pretreatment process.

Safeness
Robust and maintenance friendly design for a long standing and trouble free operation.
UF membranes are size specific barriers. They only allow a certain particle size to pass them, all the others will be separated.
To set an optimal performance of UF unit the requirements have to be thoroughly considered already at the beginning of design. It means beside the variant of Uf filtration there have to be considered the other technical components as well as some paint specific subtleties. Here the experience of the plant engineer plays a major role.
According to the requirements there are various designs of UF filters available. Most common are:
- Winding modules
- Tubular modules (polymers or ceramic elements)
- Plate modules
- Capillary-/hollow fiber modules
The difference at single types is shown by hydraulic diameter and a corresponding specific packing density.
